emotional art gathering:
NO SKILLS REQUIRED, JUST FOCUS AND HAVE AN OPEN MIND. painting mindfully by exploring your sensory feelings. No guidelines or direction. All participants are equal. No grading, just sharing ideas and emotions. Lesson free!
How to start the gathering: Work with all 5 senses: sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch. each sense sends messages to the brain to help understand and perceive the world around us. Layout an assortment of items that can activate the senses, for example, a piece of sandpaper, pasta shapes, small samples of food. make a note to yourself on which item activates which sense. For example, the sandpaper 'feels' gritty, and it makes a 'sound' when rubbed. Label items in the room with signs like taste this, touch this, smell this, etc.…
put on some music and an assortment of different coloring tools ( markers, crayons ) and paper. Now go draw how you felt about this experience. The focus here is to be AWARE of all you have come in contact with, the PERSONAL connections we make from them, and how we FEEL about them. Use assorted colors to express your emotions. Any color or image is good and correct. FEELINGS are true, now share your work with others and discuss.
